Oxfords

Umm, why don't they make these in adult size 9.5? So adorable!!

Maybe I'll have to glitter up a pair of oxfords for myself...people might look at me funny, but oh well!

Crewcuts

Hope everyone had a great Halloween! I sat by the fire, cuddled with my horse, went for a run, enjoyed the "warm" weather, picked up sticks, and watched 8 seconds with my friend. Have you watched 8 Seconds? Best movie ever.

Summer ~ 2011

It was 32 degrees on the way to church this morning, way to cold for me! And I'm not excited for the 20 below weather that will be coming soon....that's why we go south in the winter though! We'll be leaving during the first week of December so hopefully we'll miss the super super cold weather!

All this cold weather is making me look forward to Summer 2011 though! A trail in our woods leads to the lake and so many days of summer is spent swimming with friends, tubing, and skiing, in between riding and 4H!

I'm so excited about the 2011 Roxy Swimwear line, I just had to share!

100% Pure ~ Mascara made of fruit!

I was lucky enough to be able to try 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara.

One thing I don't have is long eyelashes, my brother was the one that ended up with long lashes! However, when I put on the 100% Pure mascara, they instantly look longer. I don't wear a lot of mascara, mostly just for photo shoots, and special events. It's nice to know when I am wearing it that it is natural (100% natural) and is made with natural fruit pigment, and has quite a few different vitamins in it as well!

When I'm applying 100% Pure mascara, I do have to be careful so it doesn't make my eyelashes look clumped together, but I've found that it's just technique!

I recommend 100% Pure products because of of the fact that they are natural and have a lot of healthy conditioning vitamins in them as well.

One other thing I have to add about 100% Pure is their packaging. It is stunning! It is a treat just to look at them! With dainty ivy leaves swirling around their products, and the prettiest blues and blush pink colors...dreamy!

Disclosure: I was sent 100% Pure Mascara to review. All opinions expressed are 100% off my own!

Robins Egg Blue

photo
I'm always switching between favorite colors, usually I have multiple favorite colors at once. Often I'll ask someone what they're favorite color is and they'll say something like "navy blue" and I'll say, oh! Me to! And almost immediately as I say it I remember my favorite colors are robin blue, yellow, turquoise and white, (not saying that white is technically a color, but...), with a hint of blush pink. I also love certain shades of purple, darker the purple the better - or in clothing a twinkly purple.

Is it so bad to love all colors? I tend to lean towards sunny regeneracy colors though, the ones that you'll see in the prettiest vintage dresses from the 1890's - 1900's.

A simple color can evoke such emotion and feelings, it can make you feel beautiful, light and airy, it can take you back to a different time period, it can also have the opposite effect, making you feel dark and dreary.

What are your favorite colors? How do they make you feel?

Look at number 4....now number 13

Thought I'd pop in for a quick shout out to y'all! I had to share this adorable little "story picture" isn't it perfect?

I've been sick with a nasty cold all week long, pretty much lost my voice and now it is starting to come back, but it always is worse in the morning again! I learned that whispering is worse for your voice then talking, so if you lose your voice, it's best to say nothing at all!

Some pretty pictures to inspire you, be sure to check back tomorrow for a post on expressing yourself.

Cupcakes make the day better

Picture: Amy Atlas

Tomorrow....

I'm going to make cupcakes.

They will be made of white cake, with vanilla frosting, of course.

What design should I put on top? What color frosting?

When they are done, I will put on a pretty dress.....

Theres never to much salt.....

Oh yes there is.

**Cringes**

And I'm not talking about this kind of salt.....

All my life, I have never really eaten salt in any of my foods. When family comes to visit their always asking where the salt is, and often the answer is "I honestly have no idea!"

However...making chocolate chip cookies with my friend Veronica pretty much stocked me with salt for the rest of the life.

2 eggs, a couple cups of flour, I threw them all in feeling like a pro while Veronica was mixing, then it came to the salt, I put 3 tablespoons of salt in it, instead of 3 teaspoons. Don't tell anyone - I'd like people to think that the recipe read for 3 tablespoons, actually, maybe it did, I think I'll check next time I go over. I'm thinking that's whishful thinking though.

Anyways, I was going along my dandy ways and Veronica takes a scoop of batter and eats it, she gets this look on her face and says "Its a bit salty," there there was just a tad bit too much salt in it, rather than an overload. I take a bite.....

....."OHHHHHH, those things are salty!!!"

......Feeling bad for ruining the cookies.....

"Maybe they won't taste so bad after we bake them?"

So, we baked the cookies, and out the oven they came.

"Hmmm, not to bad, still salty, but ok."

They were pretty salty if you ask me. Not as bad as the batter though. We had cookies, loads of salty cookies. Oh, and then we burnt the extra big cookie we made. "Sigh."

Good part of the story? Veronica's mom, not knowing that they had a salt overdose, thought they were good when she ate one after she got home from work. However, for some reason, she wouldn't go so far as saying they were perfect. Wonder why?

Maybe next time I'll stick with Monster cookies - and I'll skip the salt completely.

How blog designs change from Niche to Niche

Its high school. Every table has a different clique - the drama clique, the popular table, the band group, the tennis table, and then there's always the few that are friends with everyone so they migrate day to day. Anyways, you always know which group is which by how the distinguish themselves - what they wear, what they're talking about, they're facial expressions, even what they eat.

At least that's how I'm guessing it is anyways? I've actually never eaten in a high school cafeteria - I'm home schooled. If its not like that, lets pretend! It seems like just how in school cafeteria's everyone is divided up in their own cliques and they are easy to tell apart, is how it is in the bloggy world.

First a young adult book blog.

Now a teen product review blog.

Even more recently, spreading design and fashion into my teen product review blog (I'm still confused about this)

Blog to blog to blog genre change, I've noticed that different niches do have such different designs and layouts. You have the young adult book blogs, largely made up of teens, who have nice headers, and in almost every design that is more professional looking, they will detached left and right columns. Here's an example.

And for Mommy blogs, I've noticed that since most of the blog owners, are, well, moms, that they will often had purchase for a professional paid design, often using graphics consisting of a frazzled mom, a happy mom, or any other situation a mom could be in! My favorite Mommy blog design.

Now, the design blog designs! Interior design, design inspiration, cake decorating, letterpress, wedding, anything related to design. If you go to a blog that is design related and has been around for a while longer, you will be amazed. The blog design seems to portray so well that the writer of the blog really knows what she's talking about design why's. I'm going to have to shower you with more than one example here....

Oh hello Friend - Can you believe she says she doesn't know anything about blog design? She designed her entire blog by herself. Incredible.

Daydream Lily - I love the soft but simple glow to this blog.

Eat Drink Chic - I love how fun and simple this design is!

What is your favorite blog design?

Aplacas Oh Alpaca's

Jr

One extra curricular that many wouldn't think of is alpacas! I was given the opportunity - and jumped on it at that - to start training and showing alpacas! What a great experience it will be, to work with a new animal and learn about them.

Alpacas are interesting little creatures! I have worked with horses for 6 years, so I have quite a bit of experience with working with and training animals, but these little guys, they are hilarious, and so spunky! In training, don't be surprised if they will run straight to the end of the lead to try and get loose, without a moments notice!

It's easy to get involved with alpacas to start training and showing them. Just contact your local alpaca farm and they will usually be willing to work with you!

While we are here in our alpaca spirits, I have to show you these adorable Alpaca buttons!
