Journaling to Feel Alive and Recognizing the Perfect Moments

Picture Sources Unknown

This upcoming year, I am starting a day by day little journal.  A journal very much inspired by this smart college guy that happens to write a great blog and live a wonderful life.  I don't want to start a journal where I rant about my latest troubles and confusions and dreams, no, I already have one for that.

I want to start a journal with a short little blurb about why my day was wonderful.  The moment of the day that I thought to myself "If this isn't perfect, I don't know what is."  Whether it be as simple as laughing with my family at suppertime, or sneaking out of the cabin with my campers when I'm a counselor next summer to stargaze.  I want to seek out, search for, and find the beautiful and perfect moments in everyday - even when everything else seems to be going bad, there is always that one thing.

Sometimes we get so caught up in what's happening next, we forget to look at what's happening now.  If we are always anticipating and waiting for what's next, are we ever really living?

Seeking out the best moments of the day, recognizing them as they are happening, and then reflecting on them afterwards...that is living.
